Welcome to Digicel Foundation’s third newsletter!
Over the months of July, August and September
the focus has been on assessing the established
Community Learning Centres (CLC’s) as well as
selecting and visiting new potential projects for
funding.
A total of 6 primary school building projects have
now been approved for funding. They will all
receive the new concept kit build steel double
classrooms including office space, water tanks
and toilets. Construction of the first school project
has started with completion planned by the
end of October.
The construction of the first Family Support Centre,
in cooperation with the District Hospital in
Maprik (Sepik Province) and UNICEF is nearing
completion with the opening planned in November.
A second Mobile Clinic, to be operated by Foursquare
Church in the highly populated but under
serviced Highlands Province of Enga, has recently
been purchased with operations planned to start
in November.
Last but not least, a partner and location for a
second Women's Shelter have been identified.
We hope to start with the actual construction by
the end of October. More about these projects
will follow in our next Newsletter before the end
of the year.
